Ouch.
Slain by a song again today.
Serenity Road got paved today
One willow with two carved hearts got in the way.Serenity Road, from the new CD, “My Blue Garden,” by any Annie and Rod Capps.
Annie and Rod Capps are familiar names (OK, friends) for anyone who attends Folk Alliance conferences. Super-genial, understated musicians that will rip your heart out with a song if you put your guard down. You’ve been warned… and you’ll be charmed.
For: fans of song, especially those who prefer traditional-ish delivery that belies the clean, world-class production.
Check out and pick up their CD.
Book them for a house concert.
You’ll be delighted on both counts.
Fran
PS - We have so many talented artists at CIYH - I would love to have more reviews to print on this blog. If you’ve got a little spare time, writing skill, and genuine love of the traveling troubadour (ones you don’t work with) - call or write me.

Hey Fran:
Here’s something that might be worth the newsletter or blog or
something as an item.
My partner Cathy had the brainstorm of a Q&A session during our house
concerts, and it’s become a real fixture.
How we do it:
1. We have pens and slips of paper on our dining room table and a bowl
to collect questions.
2. We tell people that during the intermission, they can write down
questions and we’ll ask them before the second set.
3. I read the questions to the performer, who then answers
4. We choose one or two questions from the bowl to win CDs from
current, past, or future performers.
Once in a while, there are questions that I won’t read if I think
they’re just a bit … off. But 99% are great. Some questions are
funny, some thought-provoking, and sometimes even profound.
Keep up the great work on CIYH.
Bob.

One of the key elements of successful house concerts is a growing email list!
You already know I’m nuts about these house concert cartoons that Roy Schneider is drawing for us. I took the most recent one and created a fun mailing list form that you can download for FREE.
However, I would love it if you made a $3 donation to Roy, or checked out his great music.
Two PDFs available.
