Not that we care (or do we?) But it is important to realize how it’s getting very easy to believe any bad news regarding the “old guard.”

There is so much paranoia around, especially in terms of illegal downloads and sagging CD sales. Here’s a pleasant surprise, even if it’s only to balance out the headlines a bit. Universal says it is having a strong 2008, and that digital sales are now offsetting CD sale decreases.

Someone tell the RIAA.

Of course, this means nothing to most of us - but let it be a tool for you to raise a few eyebrows next time you discuss the industry with people who are just reciting last year’s headlines.
