a.k.a. Is your street team homeless?

by Fran Snyder

You’ve got talent, and a desire to share that talent with people. You’ve heard of house concerts and may have even joined concertsinyourhome.com. You’ve spent a few hours contacting hosts on the site, and maybe you are a little frustrated that people aren’t jumping at the opportunity to host a concert that features YOU.

As valuable a resource as CIYH has become, it astounds me how many artists neglect the most likely source of house concert venues - their fans. Think of yourself as a salesman (you are.) When you start a business, who are the most likely people to buy from you? Complete strangers? or people you know?

Step 1. Ask the people you know, especially the ones that like you.

So how do you ask? Do you just tag a line at the end of your standard “I’ve got a gig…” emails? “By the way, I also do house concerts. I can do a show in your home.”

Wow. That’s exciting.

How about a little enthusiasm? Romance them! Excite them! Stroke their thigh! How about…

Hello Devoted Fan Who Reads All My Emails,

There is something incredible going on all across this country, and I’d like to invite you to be a part of it. Have you ever had someone play a song just a few feet from you, and gotten chills as the song’s energy leaps right into your soul? Have you ever been so close to the performer that you could feel the adrenaline rushing through his veins? Well music fans and artists are finding ways to create that magical experience - by having concerts in people’s homes.

I’m so excited about doing these shows and I would love for you to be a part of it. If you have a living room and 20 friends, we can make it happen. Just send me an email today, and we can talk about the possibilities.

If you want to know how big this trend is, visit concertsinyourhome.com, where you’ll see Grammy winners, hit songwriters, as well as talented up-and-comers like me. It’s an incredible thing. Let’s do it.
