People try to box others in. Genres and artist comparisons are how the public tries to make sense of a musician. You can’t really do that with Matt Bednarsky.

Born to a mother with a classical pedigree and a professional jazz guitarist father, Matt grew up in Shelton, CT engulfed in music. He began violin at the age of 4 (soon after left behind), guitar at age 8, and started singing probably not long after he could make farm animal noises. He first put pen to paper in songwriting at the age of 12, finding it as a way to creatively engage.

Matt attended New York University and studied Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, psychology and music. After studying abroad in It...

Genna & Jesse are defined by a unique alchemy born of the quirky chemistry, intricate vocal harmonies and ardent storytelling which infuse their songwriting and vibrant performances. With whispers (and sometimes roars) of folk, country, jazz, blues, art song, and popular music from the ‘60s and ‘70s, their self-chosen genre “acoustic-soul” doesn’t quite encompass what they conjure up in their joyful live shows and sensual, deliberate albums. These two shrug off music industry conventions in favor of doing what feels good, and this genre-defying dedication to being current and free has an exciting and irresistible effect. Drawing inspiration from their romantic nomadic lifestyle, Genna & Jesse might be...

From her early days as a classically trained child guitar prodigy, Natasha Borzilova has consistently created music that says something, and in a fresh way. That hasn’t changed with Out of My Hands, her self-produced third solo release ― and her most personal collection yet.

Since the 2006 disbanding of Bering Strait ― the group of genre-defying Russian wunderkinds that brought her from Russia to America, spawning critical acclaim, a Grammy nomination, a 60 Minutes profile and a documentary film ― Borzilova has remained busy: as writer, recording artist, yoga instructor and, most important, mother. Despite a slowdown for the birth of her son, she found time to land her 2010 alb...

Ian McFeron, whose writing has been compared to Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams and John Lennon, weaves together a variety of popular, rock, and Americana styles to create his own take on roots-American music.

McFeron got his start in the Seattle after his self-produced debut album was picked up by a major commercial radio station there. A recent college graduate at the time, McFeron was new to the scene but his tightly composed songs inspired the media giant to put the album’s lead off single, “Love Me Twice,” into rotation. Listeners responded strongly, and within months, McFeron would share the spotlight with international and national artists such as Patty Griffin, Nanci Griffith, Shawn Mullins, Bra...
